Accommodations and Tours-Camping-Sports & Recreation

Fraser Cove Campground and Guest Cabin is a full-service campground with one guest cabin. Their three and a half acre campsite is beautifully located right on the mighty Fraser River with an accessible beach front for your fishing and recreation enjoyment. There are twenty full hook-up sites and five tenting sites that are perfectly situated on the sandy beachfront. The guest cabin has two bedrooms and is fully furnished for guests’ enjoyment and relaxation. The Fraser Cove Campground is located just off of Highway 99 and near both the iconic Fort Berens Estate Winery and the historic pedestrian suspension bridge.

Guests are welcomed to the riverside campground by the on-site owners, Peter and Dawn and their friendly red heeler dog Tye. The site is completely dog-friendly. Peter is an enthusiastic sturgeon fisherman whose passion for the sport and the mighty Fraser River is contagious and sturgeon fishing gear rentals are available on-site.

Near the campsite local First Nations do traditional fishing for salmon. At the campsite, guests can see birds of all kinds including Canada Geese and Blue Herons or can simply sit back and enjoy the sound of the mighty river. Staff Sandy and Jolee at Fraser Cove are happy to recommend walking, biking and driving routes and can refer you to many nearby events and sites to extend your stay in the beautiful Lillooet area.

Meet Peter & Dawn Mortensen

Peter has always wanted to own land in the scenic Lillooet area and on the Fraser River. Peter used to work at the Lillooet TimberMart in his early twenties and he's always enjoyed sturgeon fishing on the Fraser River. One day Peter and Dawn were wandering around the Lillooet area and they came down Davis Road to see a 'For Sale By Owner' sign hanging on some property with very attractive features. "This site had such ideal, usable riverfront," said Dawn "it was divine intervention." They purchased the three and a half acre campground property and are very excited about the existing business base and their vision for the site's growth.

Dawn and Peter aim to add more cabins and attract those guests that are coming from out of town to provide a different type of accommodation. "One of the biggest draws was the location," said Dawn. Being so close to the Fort Berens Estate Winery and on the popular footbridge recreation route made the riverside site even more special.

Peter and Dawn love Lillooet and plan to build their primary residence on their campground property. "We love the weather," said Dawn, "and the beauty of the surroundings." She points out that the residents of Lillooet are very nice, friendly and "all smiles." Dawn enjoys Lillooet for the opportunity to get out and enjoy the beautifully rugged landscape. She likes mountain biking, hiking and paddle boarding.

Dawn is a real estate agent and Peter was in the construction industry. They have welcomed the lifestyle change of being campground operators and are proud of their business. Having on-site owner-operators means that Peter can welcome guests and recommend they extend their stay in Lillooet. Dawn recommends guests also visit the Lillooet Farmers' Market, Splitrock Environmental Sekw'el'was Plant Nursery and the Fort Berens Estate Winery.
